Strengthen Your Relationship with Compassionate Support
“A relationship is like a dance, and when one person changes their steps, the whole dance changes.”
Rediscover Connection, Trust, and Understanding
Every relationship faces challenges, whether it’s communication breakdowns, lingering conflicts, or feeling emotionally distant. Over time, small misunderstandings can grow into deep frustrations, leaving both partners feeling unheard or disconnected.
At Streams of Life Therapy, we help couples navigate these challenges with care, empathy, and evidence-based techniques. Whether you’re rebuilding trust, improving communication, or simply seeking a stronger connection, therapy offers a space to heal and grow—together.
RECONNECT, COMMUNICATE, AND GROW
Couples therapy isn’t just about fixing problems—it’s about creating a relationship where both partners feel valued, supported, and understood.
Through a structured, compassionate approach, we help couples:
Break unhealthy patterns that lead to recurring arguments or emotional disconnection
Develop effective communication skills to express needs, concerns, and emotions openly
Rebuild trust and strengthen emotional intimacy after breaches of confidence or past hurts
Navigate major life transitions (such as marriage, parenthood, career shifts, or loss)
Deepen emotional and physical connection by fostering understanding and closeness
Work through difficult decisions together with clarity and mutual respect
You don’t have to face relationship challenges alone. Couples therapy offers the tools, guidance, and support to move forward in a healthier, more connected way.
How We Work
Relationships thrive when both partners feel safe, heard, and valued. Our approach to couples therapy is based on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - a research-backed method that helps couples recognize emotional patterns, repair connection, and build a stronger foundation for lasting intimacy.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) & Beyond
With EFT, couples can:
Identify and break negative cycles that create disconnection
Build a stronger emotional foundation based on trust and understanding
Create lasting change by addressing the root causes of relational struggles
While EFT is at the core of our work, we also integrate other therapeutic approaches, ensuring that each couple’s therapy experience is personalized to their needs and goals.
What to Expect in Therapy
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when emotions are high. Whether you’re working through a rough patch or simply want to strengthen your relationship, we create a safe space where both partners can feel heard and respected.
At Streams of Life Therapy, we believe every relationship deserves support, no matter the stage or situation. We work with couples who are:
Dating, engaged, or married

Simply wanting to strengthen their bond before challenges arise
No matter where you are in your relationship, therapy provides a space to reconnect, heal, and grow.
A Safe Spacefor Growth and Reflection
Streams of Life aims to create a welcoming, safe, judgment-free space designed for you. During Therapy, We’ll Focus On:
Communication & Conflict Resolution – Learn to express yourself openly and listen with empathy
Emotional Awareness & Regulation – Understand emotional triggers and how they shape interactions
Healing & Rebuilding Trust – Address past wounds and strengthen the foundation of your relationship
Deepening Connection – Cultivate emotional and physical intimacy through shared understanding
Therapy isn’t about blame—it’s about working together to strengthen your relationship and create lasting change.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, with an initial 90-minute intake session to explore your relationship history, challenges, and goals. Extended sessions are available upon request. Most sessions will be conducted as a couple, with supplementary individual sessions in order to gain individualized background.
Accessible Support, Wherever You Are
Therapy should fit into your life, not the other way around. Whether you prefer the comfort of your home or the connection of face-to-face sessions, we offer both in-person therapy at our Whitby, ON office and secure virtual sessions.
(Online) Virtual Therapy
Virtual therapy provides a flexible and accessible way to get the support you need, especially for those with busy schedules or those living in more remote areas. Our online sessions are conducted through a secure platform*, ensuring confidentiality and ease of use.
IN-Person TherapY
For those who prefer in-person therapy, our welcoming office space** provides a safe and peaceful environment to engage in the healing process. No matter which option you choose, you’ll receive the same level of compassionate, evidence-based care.
LOCATION
We are located in the historic Donald A. Wilson house at 519 Dundas Street East, Whitby, Ontario.
Our virtual services are available to residents across Ontario, and in select regions across Canada.
* Streams of Life utilizes Jane App, a cloud-based software that helps health and wellness clinics manage their practices. Jane is compliant with HIPAA, PIPEDA, PHIPA, and PIPA.
** Our office is located on the second floor of a historic building and, unfortunately, is not wheelchair accessible. We recognize this may be a barrier for some, and we’re happy to discuss alternative accommodations, including virtual therapy options.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Often Should You Have Therapy?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Many people find that weekly sessions provide a strong foundation, especially in the beginning. This allows us to build momentum and create meaningful shifts. After some time, bi-weekly or monthly sessions may feel more appropriate, depending on your progress and personal goals. We’ll work together to find the right balance that best supports your healing journey.
Streams of Life is not covered by OHIP, but most private insurance plans include coverage for psychotherapy or counseling. If your plan only covers services provided by a psychologist or psychiatrist, then we may not be covered. It's always best to check with your provider.
Finding the Right Balance for You
Therapy isn’t about a fixed schedule—it’s about what works for you.
Weekly Sessions: Ideal for deeper, ongoing emotional work.
Bi-Weekly or Monthly: A great option for maintaining progress and support.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions for 6–8 weeks, then adjust as needed. We’ll collaborate to determine the best rhythm for your journey.
How MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?
Session fees range from $150–$175 per hour, depending on the therapist. When available, interns offer sessions at a reduced rate of $100 per hour, with flexible options for practicum hours.
accessibility & AFFORDABILITY
We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier to therapy. Sliding scale pricing may be available on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability.
ARE YOU COVERED BY INSURANCE?
BILLING PROCESS
We accept major credit cards, e-transfers, cheques, and cash. Cheque may include additional processing fees.
A credit card on file is required as the default billing method. After each session, we provide an invoice that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Cancellation policy
Each therapist has their own cancellation policy. We’ll provide details when you book your first session.

“The basis of a strong relationship is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to repair and reconnect after disconnection.”
